$1000 to spend on my monte....what to buy?
Alright to start things off, i'm 17 and i've been driving a green 97 chevy pickup for 3 years, so my parents finally bought me a car...actually make that the car of my dreams...a 2001 black monte carlo ss. I plan on taking good care of it and i have about 1000-1200 saved up to put into the car. I know that i'm already getting chrome exhaust tips for it, but i dont know how much they cost or where to buy them at? any ideas are appreciated....oh and aside from the exaust tips i'm looking to buy performance over cosmetics. thanks for any replies.
Congrats on the car. Well first thing I would do bud is maintenance. How many miles are on the car for one. Does it need tires, Rotate balance, Plugs good, Belts, Cats tend to act up over time i know 01 SS did. If there anything your car needs maintenance wise i would start from there. I had to learn the hard way with my first car that maintenance goes a long way.
it has about 101,000 on it. The tires are in great shape, they replaced all four 8000 miles ago. I'd have to check on the plugs, belt, and cat. but i'm sure they'll be fine.
Hi Dylan, & Welcome to the MCF
First, you are lucky to have giving parents....4-Sure : )

I would suggest getting a intake (CAI), and exhaust mod's
like (U-Bend Delete & Flowmasters)
-The better it breaths, & flows, the better it will run
.
.(Also, what Member jglancy87 Posted : )
Search the forum, and explore other member's Monte's, and
there Mod's. Post your questions, and use the MCF
search engine for the topic's of interest.
Be Smart/Be Safe/ & Enjoy your Awesome SS.
Peace Out, `Space
cat back exhaust - Dynomax makes one for around 400-500 bucks, Ubend delete and K&N CAI. That should put you around what you want to spend.

Thanks Space for the images! I love the tips on this system - I have this exhaust so I'm biased LOL!
Man wish my parents would buy me a Monte Carlo.
(oh wait. They did. OOPS!)
I know that i'm already getting chrome exhaust tips for it, but i dont know how much they cost or where to buy them at?
Try Pace Warehouse. They were the cheapest I could find for the tips. Unless Cain still has his for $100?
But that's where I bought mine and unless you live in the state of OH you don't have to pay sales tax like I did.

i don't like the square tips on teh dynomax system...the bumpers on our cars are sort of rounded for a round exhuast tip... i had a round exhuast tip put on mine instead of the square tip
if your maintanence and everything is up to speed then just buy an exhaust with the tips included(such as the one space suggested)...or just save your money and use in the future in case something goes wrong
