so this is a pretty easy installation? just remove the screws on the door panel, How do you remove the back shelf, i tried yesterday, but im not trying to rip/break things

Easy, its about a 5/10 in difficulty. Its time consuming tho. Took me a whole weekend basically.

The rear shelf removal was covered in detail in this write up.
I also have another write up on how to remove the door panels.

Can you message me or post the door panel one, i know how to remove it, but making sure the window seals sit the same and what not

Thanks for this thread. I put a new set of Sony 6x9's in my '97 Monte today and this thread helped me alot.

I will say that it was stupid of GM to make it where you had to remove the entire back seat to change the rear speakers. They should've made them bottom mounted that you could access from the trunk.
