Repair Guide: Finally!!! Gauge Cluster Problem Fix!! - Stepper Motor
I did mine for less than $50, and included pencil soldering iron. I would think that if you could change oil, you could do this. Previous posts have instructions. If you don't want to do it yourself, bb engineering does a great job, for very reasonable $. They can be found in the previous posts on this thread.
i replaced my stepper motors when all my gauges went haywire. Very easy. I reset my pointers a little different. I left the pointers off and plugged the cluster back into the wiring harness, started the car and shut it off after10 seconds. This set all the stepper motors at zero. brought cluster back inside and mounted all pointers at zero. Worked great. Good time to replace any burnt out cluster lights at this time since they are also soldered in. Was able to replace the burnt out bulb in my heat temp selector. It can be done.
My wifes trailblazer has the same faulty stepper motors. I replaced them and the leds at the same time. Only thing with the trailblazer gauge cluster is the face is bluer and the lights are yellower to get the white color that shines threw. Is it the same color with the monte carlos?
