Rules to the Classifieds Section
- - In an effort to reduce scammers taking advantage of our members, MonteCarloForum.com, new members are not able to post new threads or reply to anything in the “The Classified Section”. In order to post, you will need to be promoted to a Full Access Member. Please see the other FAQs or contact the staff if you require assistance.
- - Do not post a "for sale" thread outside of the classified's section, it will be deleted (not moved) without warning. If this is done repeatedly, your account may become subject of infractions or being BAN-ed.
- - Do not hijack someone else's For Sale ad with an item of your own. If this happens, the post will be deleted without warning. If you have something to sell, create your own thread (if you are having trouble doing so, contact the staff).
- - 1 Bump Post Per 24 Hrs
- - Once a price is negotiated, buyer and seller should honor this agreement. Don't lead someone on or pull the rug out from them. That's bargaining in bad faith. This kind of activity will not be tolerated, and could result in the loss of your posting privileges in the Classified Section.
- - No bashing someone's For Sale thread. Such activities include insulting the seller, item or price a seller has listed, linking to another item that is cheaper than the item being sold in a specific thread. If you are posting in a classified thread, please keep to supplying information about a seller, providing information about an item for sale or assisting in finding an item wanted.
- - No auctioning items. This is not an auction site. If you wish to auction an item, please post it on a site such as eBay. If you have an item on an auction site such as eBay and wish to share it, you can post a link to it in the classified section to listing on the auction site (we also have a prefix to help make this stand out). People attempting to use MonteCarloForum.com to host an auction will have their threads deleted and infractions issued.
- - If you are using PayPal for payment, do not list the price followed with "and PayPal fees". It is recommended you build the PayPal fees into the item price (as PayPal passes the fee cost to the seller not the buyer). At the time of posting this announcement, PayPal fees are approximately 4% of the money the seller receives.
- - The PRIVATE For Sale/Trade Classifieds and Private Wanted Classifieds are for MonteCarloForum.com members only. Any commercial selling by a business MUST be done through a sponsorship of this forum.
- - Business advertising is welcomed and must be obtained through our parent company, Internet Brands. The moderators and site administrators do not manage the advertising on MonteCarloForum.com. Please contact Internet Brands advertising department for your advertising needs. Internet Brands reaches over 25 million buyers and automotive enthusiasts through its network of almost 100 different automotive forums covering all major brands. - - MonteCarloForum.com staff and parent company Internet Brands assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of member submitted threads or problems with a sale/trade transaction. In the event of a dispute, it is advised for both parties to contact each other (via phone, e-mail, private message) or consult resources such as buyer protection with a credit card or service like PayPal.
- - The MonteCarloForum.com staff, if needed, has the right to remove ads or posts at their discretion for violating any of the MonteCarloForum.com's overall site rules.
PayPal Usage
- - The MonteCarloForum Staff and owners, Internet Brands, urge all of you to NOT use the Gift option in Paypal for payment of either Items or Services rendered.
- - Paypal will NOT offer protection against scamming or fraud if a payment is made using the Gift option. Please remember that using MCF's Classified Section is done at the risk of the members. We will not take responsibility as an entity for sales/trades gone wrong.
- - Using Paypal as a method of payment offers you the FINANCIAL security that MonteCarloForum.com cannot. If you use the Gift option to pay for items/services then you are removing your own personal security net against scammers. Do not let users persuade you to Gift a payment. We should also remind you that adding the paypal fees to the total is against Paypal's terms and conditions.
- - While we do our best to make sure MonteCarloForum has a safe Classified Section, there is only so much we can do to protect you. So please always take that step to further protect yourself by using Paypal and NOT using the Gift option. Remember this is the Internet, it is not a secure environment.
Tips/Advice
- - Include reasonable prices
- - List shipping cost (if known or included). If shipping cost is not known/included, clearly state shipping is not included. Ex. $150+SHIPPING.
- - If you are firm on a price, clearly state it. Ex. $150 FIRM!

- If you are willing to take offers, mention it. Ex. $150 or best offer. Be ready to respond in a reasonable time (such as 24-48 hours). Don't leave someone hanging.
If you are making an offer, be reasonable/realistic.
If you are willing to accept offers, also be reasonable with what you are willing to accept. - - Include pics for each item for sale (more the better).
- - If you are willing to do a local pick up, mention you location (if you supplied your location with your user profile, it will show up with your username on your thread).
- - Members who had a positive interaction with a seller are welcome to "bump" a thread for a good seller.
- - If your item has sold or you are no longer offering it for sale, please update your thread. You can also PM the staff to delete the thread.
- - In the event members know of a company that is offering a discount to forum members or group discounts, feel free to inform other members by posting a note in the PRIVATE For Sale/Trade Classifieds. Please make it clear that you are not the actual seller. This is not intended for a commercial business to self-promote their goods and services. If it is found that a commercial business is using this concept to self-promote or circumvent becoming a legitimate sponsor, all related threads are subject to deletion and the member may also be subject to being BAN-ed from MonteCarloForum.com (under discretion of the MonteCarloForum.com staff).
