My car has just started sounding like a lawn mower for some reason.
The sound is localised to around the engine bay as opposed to being
underneath the car (hole in muffler etc). It is only really noticeable when
im accelerating and not really when im cruising along. It sounds like ****
though.

Any thoughts?

 

probably have a leak at somwhere after the manifold

 

Hi thank you for your reply! Is this something that I would be able to look at and easily diagnose myself? If so where should I look and am I just looking for oil leakage? THANKS

 

it would be a leak in the pipe itself, you could turn the car on and look for where you can hear the air coming through or have it diagnosed thru a muffler shop.

 

just jack up the car start it and go threw the whole exhaust if its just cracked weld it up.. or have someone do it for you if u dont know how..

 

Check the gaskets on the exhaust maniflods maybe??
