Default Whining on Acceleration only

Recently my '06 Monte Carlo has developed a whining sound when I accelerate. Even when car is in park. At first I thought maybe it was the power steering, but that seems to be perfect. Any help will be greatly appreciated. As I don't want to take to shop if I can do the work myself.

Welcome to the forum...have you inspected the pulleys? My guess is that it's coming from a pulley.

I'm inclined to go with the trans as well, prior to my tranny going it had a periodic whine as well. But now for the good news, I was able to get over a 100 000 kms out of it before it went, but I would suggest a changing of the fluid and filter, this may help get rid of it.

Power steering or alternator, see if you can hear where its coming from. Engine bay or lower.

Take a spray bottle with water and spray your belts with the engine running, if the whine goes away it's not any bearings. It sounds like the typical failing alternator scenario... can you rev up the motor with the hood popped, the car in park and have it still create the whine, if yes your tranny is not the problem.
