RE: V8 in 5th Gen. Monte Carlo??
teh 4t65e HD only came with SC'd cars. if you dont got a supercharger then you dont have the HD verison trany.
yes the L67 swap is the best way to go.... it might even be cheeper cause you can just adapt your 3800 with a supercharger. cause the bottom end is the same between the two engines. but again you would need the trany too. but yeah that is your best bet.... or do a turbo on your 3800 that will give you even more power.... same thing with trany though.

Your going to want to do your shopping on this and come up with a plan on how fast you want to go. I'd look for used but clean on everything and you might be able to do it for under $7000... maybe under $5000 but you would be risking it.

Now this is power!!! ZZPerformance just pulled a 9.01 1/4mile at 150 MPH with a 3800.

And to think if they could have just lightend it up just a bit... an 8 second V6... can't wait till next year!

Ran across the E-Bay link too for a 3800 Supercharged engine. You might be interested or at least have a start point now.

RE: V8 in 5th Gen. Monte Carlo??
well guys....after long hard deliberation, i have decided to keep my 3400 and mod that slightly to make it a little faster, and focus more on stereo and interior and exterior styling since the biggest upgrade that I have on my Monte are alloy wheels which are still the little gay spoked ones. HAHA.
thanks for all the input anyway and maybe this thread will help another newbie.[8D]

I think you would need to convert it to RWD to do what you want. This has been done and I saw pictures on another forum. Total cost was around $25,000 but it is a cool setup.
thanks in advance [sm=icon_cheers.gif]
