LOL
it would be tight for 10K.... if you did most the work.. maybe... the trany you would need to handle that much power will cost about 3500-4,000 alone. the basic turbo kits are 3K tuner is 400, exhaust will be about another 300-500, then you need bigger injectors for the turbo and an Intercooler another 800+ thats not counting the cost to rebuild the motor. with high boost you will want to lower compression via new headgaskets about 150-200. yeah that is pretty close to 10k and that isnt shipping or labor to install!
then you will also want better tires to put the power to the ground.... speed isnt cheep.

it wouldn't cost 10k to build a reliable turbo 3800.
Get the upgraded turbo with intercooler kit from Cartuning, it comes with everything you need, including injectors and reprogrammed PCM.
You'd only need some minor exhaust work - u-bend !- 3" DP, and electronic cutout, t-stat. Don't worry about doing headgaskets and stuff until you need it.
Go rockers when doing the kit, and you'll add another 20-30whp. This combo will net you around 350whp, maybe more with water/alky injection.
If you do it yourself, you can always save alot of $$$, especially if you source the entire turbo kit yourself.
Personally, I prefer the supercharged setup, and will stay that way. I won't make the top end HP that all out turbo cars can do, but from a dig, a vanilla turbowith intercooler won't take me until after a 1/4 mile. I'm planning on hitting a dyno soon, but will probably see somewhere in the range of 350whp.

If you are currently NA it would probably be smarter to go turbo in general. Easy install, better gas milage, and easier on tranny.
The Whipple Kit is unproven and is a bear to install. 6 hours to install but God knows how long to tune.....

RE: V6 3800 turbo?
yeah if you do it yourself with a cartuning kit you can do it cheaper. 4000 for turbo kit and intercooler, 4000 for the tranny( I went with Dynotech performance for my tranny) It took some knuckle busting to install the turbo though!..lol... And then all the other doodads a guy wants. DHP tuner or equivilant, gauges etc. The PCM comes tuned but you'll want to learn to tune yourself and be able to understand your car more. You can do it cheaper if you get the kit without the intercooler and no ceramic piping and the garrett turbo instead of the Precision one and just run 7-9 psi with out getting a tranny and you'll be alright for awhile. (until you get bored and want more!..lol) But in the end the quest for speed is never over so you'll want quality parts down the road. But for whats its worth I ran 12 psi for a year on a non-HD tranny before I could afford one and didn't have a problem but Dynotech said they could see the excessive wear. I'm more of a turbo guy myself just because driving around town your turbo won't engage until a certain rpm, helping gas mileage when the wife or girlfriend takes it to the store. I swear mine must think its illegal for women to buy gas!..lol..But if you go turbo I'll give ya my 2 cents. But my S-10 chevy pick-up I'm working on has a 383 V-8 and I'm definately going supercharger with that!.. ...so...pick your poison!...lol..
