not knowing the compression i am not sure on heads but if your buget is tight you can allwayz check on ebay you can find some camel hump heads again some castings are better that others but they are the best stock heads for 302.327,350,400 but if you can get the casting number off of your heads you mite allready have a set !!
and it looks like the trans is good if you put the stuff i said above it should move good

the valvesprings that are on your heads now will greatly affect what you can do. if a larger cam is purchased to reach your hp/tq goals more than likely you will need 1.55" diameter springs w/200+lb spring pressure. some heads cannot be machined to accept that size spring so i advise checkin that outearly in the build plan.

well i just got my new jegs today and with the cam i want i gotta get aftermarket springs or they wont hold up, and a decent set of roller rockers is about 150-225, my auto class teacher from highschool said hes got a sbc aluminum intake, single plane high rise hell sell me for 40 bucks, im jumpin on that, and instead of the 600cfm carb that i asked for for x-mas i changed it to a 750, its also the only thing i asked for so i imagine im going to get it, lol, its still fun living at home, so with the intake for cheap and hopefully a carb for x-mas that will give it a boost, and then tax time is gonna be a good boost for it, roller rockers and a cam are comin my way, but then agian my b-day is 5 days after x-mas so it may come my way sooner cause i get paid a few days after x-mas and my bday is the 30th, so i should have a good bit of money to splurge on some good parts, and pullin that engine should be easy since there aint much on it, anyway, im still looking at getting the 6 speed trans and set up out of a ws6, correct me if im wrong but didnt some montes come with a 4 spd? so that right there should have the holes in the firewall already i just gotta punch em out and hook up the pedal and set up on that, shouldnt take more than a few days if there isnt gonna be much more work involved but knowing my luck there will be alot more, anyway this time of year the cars gonna get some mods, the ignition and stuff can come later,

depending on the camyou may be better off with a dual plane.what are the specs on the cam?do you still plan on a power additor? are you wanting to build the motornow and leave it naturally aspirated?

the 4th gen monte cam 4spd auto but the 3dr gen (78-80) came with a 3spd manual so if you need the parts they are interchangeble just get all the parts from one of them and get the trans from the ws6
as for the intake a dual plane intake is better for the street but 40$ is 40$ you will lose some bottom end power but with the 6spd you should have enuf gears to make up for it

well, it may be a little more tricky than i thought for the 6 spd but i gurantee you itll be done on this car, lol, thats one thing i do want, with the cam thats right for the intake ill have to get aftermarket valve springs, i was looking at a voodoo, 268 duration and .489 lift, but i may have to go bigger with the intake, what size rockers would i need? 1.5 ratio or 1.6? no im starting to think im going to leave it n/a instead of s/c or t/c

yeah maybe you should stay n/a for now with your bottom end just being rebuilt
and what the specs for your cam ? is it 489 intake and exhaust ? do you already have it ? if so maybe buy 1.5 intake and 1.6 exhaust i see some guys do that from time to time
and yeah the springs is a must !

you can choose the 1.6's if you like. they will boost ur cam specs tho.... lift will be .040 more than what the specs state w/1.6's. ex. lift would be like .529 thats alot for .268 duration. generally a good combo similar to what youre going for in your355.. 10:1 w/decent heads n springs. nothing too fancy but if you got spare bucks the heads are the place to put it. a .280/.480 cam w/roller tip rockers in the ratio of your choice... dual plane intake w/650 cfm dual line mechanical sec. carb.. 1 5/8" headers. should make a solid 350hp.
