Default Turbo time - which one!

Trying to figure out which turbo to go with tween ZZP, car tuning & used stattuma kit or piecing one together. I know you can only put so much boost and make so much power to the ground before you put the trans is in jeopardy. I would plan on building up trans. So what would you guys do go big and detune with something like a used stattuma kit i found or start small non intercooled and build up...thanks

Speaking from experience here. I bought a bra and new intercooled cartuning kit when I went turbo. Trans lasted about 8000 miles after install and it was toast. I feel any time you install a turbo be prepared to build the trans asap.

As far as the kits go I suggest either the zzp z7, stattama, cartuning. If you get the Z7 you can swap stattama parts to it and make a z7 a stattama kit. I do love my cartuning kit and Kevin at cartuning makes awesome upgrades for his kit as well.

If buying new buy non intercooled and then buy your own intercooler and piping as its way cheaper than the price of a brand new intercooler kit.

If it were me I would either do a stattama or cartuning kit intercooled and push 10psi. Will make right around 280-300whp and be a blast for you to drive. The supporting mods are endless to make more hp if you wish to do so as well.

One more thing I highly suggest getting a electronic cutout on the down pipe as it helps when hp and spool and they sound awesome on a turbo car.

Imo cartunings BOV sounds better than the stattama but it's all preference.

Feel free to look at the threads I have started here about my engine, trans, turbo upgrade builds if you want some ideas

Any other questions feel free to ask!!

Stattama is bigger turbo and 3"dp and can use plogs front and rear.

Cartuning is smaller turbo 2.5"dp and can only use front plog. Cartuning can get you a bigger turbo a 3"dp and they make there own turbo manifolds though. Cartunings manifolds are way better than plogs

I have cartunings meth kit also lol. I just installed the kit over winter so not sure what gains it will give me but it surely don't hurt to have it.

A water meth kit is a mixture or water and meth/alcohol. It is pressurized and I fine mist sprayed into the intake. This then goes into cylinders and mixes with the fuel. The meth raises the fuel octane and the water evaporates and while evaporating it cools cylinder temps. Both of these features it does helps elimjnate pre detonation which is very bad. By eliminating pre detonation you can then raise boost or timing to make more power.

Just keep in mind if your tuned to rely on meth and you run out or the pump dies you will go very lean and probably pop the engine..... There is "failsafes" that can prevent this in the event the meth fails. (I am running a failsafe as well)

That's awesome man!! Did you get the intercooler also?

The racetronix pump and rewire are awesome it's what I have but the pump is not a direct drop in replacement. (Pump don't fit our bucket) You will need a older style grand prix bucket and have to put the top half of yours on the bucket so the correct connectors are still there.

Get the venturi style since our cars have that option to use it. it helps keep the pump cool which makes it last longer.

Don't know how hard it will be to tune for meth as i just installed mine and haven't tuned for it yet. I will say I got into enough boost where meth sprayed and I'm not tuned for it yet. Didn't hurt a thing just got a little richer was all. A tune is not needed when meth is installed but it could hurt performance do to running a little richer. (Rich won't hurt engine) once tuned with meth is when you make more power but remember once tuned for meth if the meth fails then you will go lean and that's when engines go boom. This is why I said you will need a failsafe of some sort to protect the engine incase the meth pump etc fails.
