Default turbo or super charger?

Hello, I am totally new to aftermarket parts on cars, and i was wanting to know about the following.

Can a turbo or a super charger be added to a 1999 monte carlo ls 3.1 v6? if so which is better and or which is more beneficial. what are the odds of this destroying the engine if i do add this to the car? will it cause engine problems, or any check engine lights to appear? and is NOS a good or a bad addition to either a turbo or a super charger, or is it better stand alone? is there a signifigant gain in performance or is it a waste or money and time?

thank you Jacob

Cheapest way to add a supercharger is to do an L67 swap. I have seen both a roots kit (it was remote mounted) and a csc kit over the years- but both were very expensive $3k+.

IMO, turbo's have had better success on that engine, but as far as I know, you're looking at doing a custom 1 off kit.

i agree with bumpin...as for if your engine can handle it i would have to say yes, but it will most likely blow ur stock tranny apart if you throw the boost at it along with a 75 shot nitrous

Small turbo = the best way to go.

I would agree if he didn't have a 3100. I don't think there are any bolt on turbo kits for the 3100 out there- so it would be a good deal more work to custom make your own turbo setup.

I've never heard of a bolt on for the 3100 either, but if he has time and materials I think building your own turbo system would be the best.
