tuning questions
ok guys i am having issues with my tune, me and my tuner is slowly working them all out but its not an easy task. we have the idle fairly decent (wb 15-16.5) (for the cam i cant complain i guess) but it only will idle once it warms up and wont even think of idling cold unless you put it in gear. with the car in gear not moving it idles fine both cold and warm (wb 15-16). under very light throttle i have a lean condition (like 10% throttle it flat lines the wide band) but once you roll into the gas a little more my wb will start reading 14-15 and then once you start getting into boost it richens up into the 13's. now on decell i am flat lined lean as well.
i know there is areas on that that still need work but my main issue is i am making out my maf at like 35% throttle. i have the adjustable afc but have no idea how it works or what it does or what needs to be done to the maf table in the pcm to accommodate the afc... i assume the maf table gets scaled back by what you scaled the afc correct? also once this is installed then anything over 35% throttle will need to be tuned from square one?
i dont understand because when i dynoed the car we quit trying to make any more power right where i am because i was just about to max the maf and now a month later im maxing my maf at 35%.... any ideas to y this would be?
me and my tuner are planning to install the afc tomorrow and work more with the tune tomorrow probably all day and hope all goes well and we get alot of this crap fixed or i am leary on taking turbo monte to gm nats running like she is now
sorry guys i dont have a tune i can send anyone because he is using his tuner and his laptop. just any in general ideas for me to tell him would be great!

I'm too far away from it to be of any help right now. I'm still doing my own tuning research as I am about to purchase HPTuners.
Hopefully someone can help you. I know our 1-bar sensors don't read boost well and it is kind of blind tuning.

Have you tried researching on the HPTuners forum?

just so everyone knows and for the knowledge here as well. me and my buddy (my tuner) got the car figured out and it rips hard now.
as far as the afc is your maxing out the maf you want to scale the afc back and how ever much you scale the afc back you have to add to the whole maf table at the same time. for example:
if the afc is set at 100 it makes no change (factory setting)
you are maxing out the maf so you scale the afc back 3% (97 on the afc)
you will have to add 3% to the whole maf table at the same time as changing the afc.
by doing this your maf table and air fuel ratio does not change but it lowers the maf hertz to it wont hit the maf ceiling and max out.
its pretty interesting and neat and awesome!

Glad you guys got it squared away John. I should've ran you before when I actually had a chance! LOL
Looking forward to new #s now that you've got the tune dialed in. If you ever want to head out to the track to get some ETs let me know. This time of year the heat kills, but once that fall air rolls in I'll be back out there a lot.

I don't know how much good that'll do...
"2005 Mustang GT- 11.9 @ 116 MPH - can't hook"
"2003 Monte Carlo SS- 13.0 @ 110 MPH - also can't hook"

They'll do better then his regular street tires...besides, my Monte's passes were all made on 235/55/17 Pirelli's. I'm pretty sure the Hoosiers would've hooked (and broken my input shaft or differential in the process). I believe that TurboMonte has a built trans, so that won't be an issue.
