Tuning or chip??

Neither is really going to give you any power. But a chip on our car is only going to short out your IAT sensor and either make you run lean or rich and screw your motor up.
Tune will make the car more responsive (if it's done right) but you're not going to gain much power just from a tune.
Either look into Overkill or ZZP for a tune. I would recommend Overkill, many here have and love his tunes, including myself.

Technically speaking, it is impossible to "chip" your car. Your computer uses EEPROM. It doesn't use chip's. You can only tune the car. Only "chip" option is to completly replace the PCM. The cheap handheld things are just generic tunes. If you want you car done correctly, get it dyno-tuned. You will spend a little more cash, but the tune will be done specifically for what you want and done to match your car's wear.

Of course Will does integrate a similar feature into his tunes he says for track use, if you unplug your IAT sensor the car will think it's taking in 0* air to richen it up. Although I don't really see the need for it.

Is the $4000 including a dyno? You can get a tune for around $200 on the high side.
