Default tuners

so in the past ive tryed many ideas on pcms for hte ss, but to most ive run into either bricking the pcm or can not write to it or pcm is not able to take the tune due to wrong hardware, ive been looking at a hp tuners set up and wanted some other ss guys that are tuned out there on what they have run into in the past while tuning and what style or version of tuning software they have used. thanks code red

Huh? what tuner are you using that is bricking PCM's? a Powrtuner? if the drivers arent set right for the serial adapter, netframe 1.1, and jet 4.0 arent setup correctly you will have issues. also it says if you have office 2003 you could have issues. all of this is solved with having a laptop solely for tuning.

If your trying to tune your 2005 then that might be where you are having issues. only the last few powrtuners were set to tune 04+ IIRC. i know i have a early to mid gen PT and i dont think i can upload to the 05's i think most who tune them are using HP tuners like you have said.

and what are these "many ideas"? sounds iffy....

I always read that you should just do partial writes. Change one small thing, flash it back, change another, flash it back. Not make huge changes and then write the whole thing at once.

With that said, my car is tuned with DHP, but it was done by a friend.

your best bet is to go with hp tuners. it won't give you all the flexibility on a v6 as on a v8 but its a more stable software than what's out there. It's not a cheap program but its very much worth it.

now on the hp tuner you can get past the security messures on the pcm right? most time i cant write to it due to the pcm being locked.
