Default Transmission rebuild Preference?

The Deuce is in the shop. If her tranny need a total rebuild they quoted me $3,800

They also said if I wanted to put in a after market tranny like from TEP they would do that too

I know I can prob get a beefier tranny from TEP

Can anyone suggest any other tranny company's that are good and provide an up graded trans?

Hey Tadd,

Having done a rebuild tranny on my Monte (when I had it) and having a terrible experience with it I would recommend another option. I had to have the rebuild replaced 9K later and the shop that did the rebuild refused to acknowledge it was crap and thus didn't honor their warranty. So I had to pay for 2 transmissions (although I disputed the credit card charge for the first one and ended up winning the dispute, so I recovered the money eventually).

The second time around, I went with a genuine GM rebuilt tranny that a shop installed. I realize the issue with a stock rebuild is, you are bound to have issues again at some point. That being said, they come with a 3yr/ 100K warranty.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks!... Just waiting now for the Dealer to take a look we are not 100% sure a rebuild is in order but could be

They will warranty a rebuild for 3 years or 100,000 mile they told me all new parts they just re-use the case

So Called GM customer service - They made note of the trannie issue and klnew of other complaints about or transmission
They gave me NHSTA number too
1-888-327-4236
The GM employe (Who also owned a Monte) said if they get enough complaints a re-call may be issued.
So call if you have an 06 - 07 Monte with a transmission Issue, or this transmission in your 3800 and file a complaint

If its the solenoid and its already 1400 just for that id just get the entire rebuild at this point. You might as well wait to talk to TEP first and consider going with them. I would like to think those guys know a little bit more about these transmissions and making them stronger than the guys at the dealer.
