Default transmission coolant line leak

Hey guys.
My 2002 stock SS is leaking transmission fluid from the metal transmission coolant line that runs to the radiator(the top one). To get this problem solved, would I have to replace the coolant lines?rebuild the top of the radiator?or can that inlet just be changed?has this happened to any of you?how much should a job like this cost?

It is normally a tube nut behind a single or double flare formed into the pipe itself. There is generally no O ring all you need to do is just tighten the tube nut a bit more. If this doesn't work the flare will have to be remade using a flaring tool.

I had a leaking tranny cooler line too, but it was leaking at the transmission (very very slow leak, not even developing a drip). Mine was fixed under warranty for free. It should not be THAT expensive of a job though. You might try pulling the line off where it's leaking and check to see if an O-Ring has failed...would be a cheap trial.

Thanks for chiming in you guys..
I don't think that its loose, I've tried tightening it a while ago and put teflon tape or plumbing tape on the tread to get a snugger fit and prevent leakage, but the problem remained.

I might try what Michael said and hopefully its just that.is the o-ring connected to actual line or the connection at the radiator?I took it to a mechanic once for this same issue and he had the top of the radiator(black plastic) rebuilt for $30 and that stopped the leak..its been a little over a year and its leaking again.that's why I ask if its connected to the line not the radiator.

I believe there are actually two small O-Rings (could be wrong) on the line portion. Mind you, I am referring to the transmission end of the hose, I am not 100% sure if the radiator end is the same, but I think it is.

Ok, quick update.
I purchased a new transmission coolant line fitting and upon inspection, the new one, had a thicker rubber gasket in the inside and the old one appeared to be worn and was probably the cause of the leak. I have installed the new one. I didn't have time to really drive my car much, but later on today, I will drive around to see if the leaking has stopped

Let us know if that was the culprit. Should know pretty quickly if the new fitting did the trick.

If not, another source of the leak could be the plastic part of the radiator that the coolant line fitting screws into. Could have a crack.

Ok, another update!
Problem solved!fortunately, it was only the fitting for the line that was leaking and not the insert on the radiator. I would have had to rebuild the top of the radiator to get that sorted out. It was a <$10 fix!(with basic tool-use skills lol)
