Well my transmission went out today on my 2006 ss.From what I've been reading (trying to find another one) that the only thing that will work is a trans from a 2006 only! 5.3 only ! anyone know for sure if this is true and not BS. sure limits my choises having hard time coming up with one.anybody know a good place to come up with one.

 

Im not sure why you wouldnt be able to use a trans from a 2006-present impala SS or a 06-07 monte carlo ss. They should have the same engine and transmissions.

 

I am pretty sure the Grand Prix GXP uses the same as well...

Hmmm... Got me thinking...

I have a 86 turbo regal that i restored and take to shows.(had a auto body shop for 30 years)That crowd on the buick web site can be quite brutal at times so instead of being taked down to like a dumb *** i just read and observe.I can tell it's a much friendly crowd over here.I also thought that 2007 or other would interchange.but for the information I have got from different tranny shops and interchange books from salvage yards say 2006 only impala,monte carlo and a gp with a 5.3 (LS4) so you guy can tell what kind of day i'm had.

 

my tranny is going out too. have you considered getting a built tranny from triple edge performance? thats what im gonna do so i dont have to worry about the tranny going out on me again.

 

yes I've been looking. I drive mine 120 miles a day If they had one done ready to go I'd do it in a minute but if I have to take mine out sent it to them to rebuilt and so on.i've had a lot of experiance with these kind of deals and turnaround time 30 days at best. I can't aford to have the car down that long plus taking up shop space that long

 

Sorry to hear about your tranny going out. It's too bad GM didn't really beef up the tranny on their v8 models. Another vehicle that you could get a tranny from is the Buick LaCrosse Super just for another option for you.

 

I would give triple edge a call and see if they could build you one, then replace yours and keep the old one as a core.

 

the lax is super rare there were less then a thousand built. id call tep im sure you could buy a trans from them and give them yours to cover the core cost.
