Does anybody know if a 2006 monte Carlo 3.9 trans will work in my 02 3.8 monte Carlo?

 

I dont know if it will work but i have a 2006 3.9 and i would not put the trans in your car the trans in the 3.9 are SH** mine shifts hard and i have talked to a chevy dealer about it and they told me their junk i would not put one in my car when i replace mine im upgrading to a better tranny

 

I believe the 3.9 got the standard 4T65E, not the HD version. However, you can't use it in yours without some tuning, etc. In 2006/2007 they split the PCM into a TCM and an ECM, plus us pre-03 montes can't use 03 and up trannys without PCM tuning, because that's when some of the electrical changes began.

Simple answer I'd say no, get a tranny from a 2000-2002.
