Tranny service-To flush or not to flush???

No. Dont change it. If drain the old trans fluid, anything holding the trans together with go away with the new fluid. All that fluid is pretty much is oil with detergent in it. I work at a 10min oil change center and we do that kind of service and lots of people come in and ask if they need one when they have around the same mileage or more as you and haven't done one in a long time or so. But Idk when the fluid on my trans was done last. Thats just my opinion though.

Yeah- thanx montemlv6.. opinions like yours are of value to me ..Yours is another side to this question of service or no service on a 87k +/- mile tranny that is working fine..
Ive heard more than a few stories of failed trannys soon after a fluid change. And ive heard the plus sides of a change.
But as been said here- no one can say whats going to happen after a change of fluid for sure..And I think the problem was present more often in older cars 60's-80's..But I am leaning towards doing the service as my fluid passed the blot test,is a bit red but more brown and has no burnt smell..So knowing that Im somewhat confident that clutch material or other debris is not holding it together..

Thats why I said to do just a pan and filter change. This will change about half the fluid, and won't completly "shock" your transmission. Then maybe 25-30K later, do another pan and filter change.

Chiming my .02 in as I am the proud owner of a '00 ls 3.4 motor with a rebuilt transmission. These transmissions were not the greatest made. The boys here KNOW wtf they're talking about. Every single one of them. If you want to flush it, that's up to you. Know that you could potentially cause your transmission to fail, because there's no lubricant holding it together as the old fluid has had some 'burn in' time.
If you only change it HALF at a time with a new filter, you almost eliminate that possibility. DONT put a transmission with THAT many miles on it into shock... you are ASKING for an assload of hurt. If Blacksheep, or MAMONTE tell you something.... you can guarantee they know wtf they're talking about. They have NEVER steered me wrong ever.
The reason WHY the transmission FAIILED in my car at 186,000? Becaue the previous owner NEVER changed the fluid until he did the flush. WOOPS. Didn't want to pay to have the car fixed and I stole the car from him for $1400. She's worth about 5 as she sits.

You know what..dont ask for our advice then, and let your transmission die!
