Tranny limits?
I noticed there was a question about a tranmission limit on the 3.8 model. I did some searching ut cant find MY trannys limit/specs on when I should be concered about replacing the tranny.
I have the LS version, so, I dont have the HD version. (I think mines known as the 4T60-E)

RE: Tranny limits?
Phew, good question... and the problem is, we can't find out what the 4T65E can take, let alone the 60... :-/
I emailed the GM Engineering department a while ago, and they came back with a lame-o excuse that they really can't tell, because there are so many different factors involved... :-/

RE: Tranny limits?
very true... it all depends on how the load is applyed... turbo, SC, NOS. if the trany is abused with improper driving, the stall converters used. many factors
bottom line:
-the 60 doesnt like high rpm. not as much an issue with the 3400 as with my DOHC 3.4L
- Temp is a major factor like all auto's
-clutch packs are an issue too and on my rebuilds i have had damaged bands in the trany.
for a stock 60 i wouldnt push more then 250 crank HP. with shift kits, coolers, and other prep i would say 300 for a daily driver and maybe more if the trany has a fresh quailty performance rebuild

RE: Tranny limits?
Tim from ZZP said that there are TONS of stock HD's running on 350-360 HP... Just do your tranny flushes and filter changes as per maintenance recommendations, and you should have minimal failure. The Upgraded Trannys are only for alot of track use and lots of burnouts. I plan on making MY tranny last at least another year, if not two. =)

RE: Tranny limits?
you guys both are talking about the 4t65e vs a 4t65eHD
vita is asking about a 4t60e diff trany guys. they are weaker then the 65's but like i was saying i wouldnt go over 250 crank HP without doing something to it. IE better fluid, DexVI, shift kit, TRANY COOLER! is a must.
