I'm going to be performing a top swap on an '01 monte ss. The question i have is what do i need to do for the computer to make it run properly? Should i take it to a tuner and get it redone or mail order tune?

 

You really do need some sort of tune to even be starting it up and letting it run.

With the top swap, you change the MAP sensor, the MAF sensor (well, the TB- which effects the MAF flow numbers), and the fuel injector size. So without having a pcm correct for L67 parts- its only two ways to calculate fueling (MAF and SD through the MAP) are both going to be wrong. Plus, it won't like the fact that the injectors are flowing far more than it thinks they should be.

 

Can i get away with using a gtp pcm or should i just get the monte pcm calibrated?
