Timing belt kit, What is needed
Hello,
I plan on changing my timing belt next year and would like to know what I need to get as a kit besides the timing belt and water pump. I was told by a mechanic that he needed the kit in order for him to do the installation and that it would take him 9+ hours to do it, I think that is too much. I have searched on Kragens.com and found only a kit that includes pulleys, I also heard I need the tensioner. I would like to know because I can get all the parts cheaper than a shop would charge me. Please if I can get a detailed list of what I need it would be alot of help. Also what is the price range for a timing belt install in a 95 MC Z34.
thanks for your help.

RE: Timing belt kit, What is needed
I am going to replace my timing belt on my 3.4 Litre soon.
You should research what is required to do this job. It doesn't seem to be easy (this will be my first time doing this job).
I have already purchased:
Factory manuals
2 - cam holding tools (kent more)
1 - timing belt
2 - idler pulleys
1 - tensioner(?)
1 - tensioner pulley
1 - L & R cam cover gaskets
That's all I can remember right now.
I'm told you don't need the sprocket holding tool.
The extra parts are for the "while your in there" factor.
Hope this helps,
