Thinking about supercharging my 3.8 ss stock! Need experienced help!!
i understand what your saying but i enjoy having my MOnte just stock. I cant afford to put money into it. the kind of money for a SC or TC. It is still one of the fastest W-Bodies in vegas i havent lost to anyone yet. So i dont see a reason to change it.

Am I right that your only performance mods are the K&N CAI, TBS,and 2.5" DP? I honestly think you wouldn't be much faster than a stock monte adding all the weight of the 20" wheels and subs/amp/box- maybe even a little slower depending how much the wheels and audio weight.
Even if you were a little faster than a stock L36 (NA 3800 monte)- you're still going to be a good bit slower than any stock L67 wbody- GTP's, 04/05 monte SS's, etc- and slower than any stock LS4 wbodys (GXP's, Monte/Impala SS's). That's not even getting into modded cars (I know LV has some clubgp members, just can't think of who).
I'm really not trying to dig on you- I just wouldn't go around telling locals you have the fastest wbody in Vegas unless you have a lot more mods than are on that list (nitrous?).
im just saying from who i have raced on the track here no other w body has beaten me. Even SC W-bodies. Cause when i go to the track i lose my sub box, amps, spare tire, rear seat and passenger seat. i have drag radials for up front and skinnies for the rear. I cut back on weight and there used to be a 100 shot when needed. I had it on once when i first raced the car. Since i done go all the time i dnt want nos in a daily driven car. So maybe ill retrack my previous statement and say i have the fastest 01-05 monte carlo ss in vegas. There really is not much of a w-body scene here.

I'm just saying, since its a street car- on the street, without the DR's, 100 shot- and weight mods, you're probably just about as quick as a stock NA monte, and slower than a SC'd monte.
im looking do do the same thing i have a 2000 ss 3.8 what would i need to tak off a sc ss for my motor to handle the hp and what not from the super charger, ik the sc models are built differently from the non supercharged to handle the extra power
you would need everything from the lower intake manifold and up, fuel rails, wiring, cpm, a cluster if u want or a boost gauge add on etc..there are many threads with your question and they have a completed list. i dno where you live and how cheap parts are but you can get them from a junk yard. i just went with the zap sc kit it was a few hundred more than my estimate from getting a top swap off a sc ss but less work (labor)
when i got my estimate from the junkyard shipped it was worth it for me to go thru zzp(taking work and labor into condiseration) even tho they tend to charge a lil extra.everything in ny is over priced which sux. overall im very pleased with it tho. no room to speed cause i live in the city but i get home a lot quicker lol.
one other thing i would recommend are gmpp sway front and rear sway bars and maybe headers if you are willing to dish out another 4-500.
i bought the same gmpp sway bars from a chevy store on ebay and saved about $60 from zzp prices..so shop around
good luck

The stock tranny has a hard time even handling a stock car.
It's a crapshoot with these things. If you take care of it, change fluid every 30K, etc, you have a good chance of having a good trans life.
Other people, it will break fast.
