My opinion, don't drive it without oil, find out why it lost it's oil. Consider having it towed to a trusted mechanic. Prepare for news of a blown engine (then if it's better news you are surprised and if it's not, you're ready for the worst).

First of all, one thread on this would have been sufficient. Secondly, the noises you were hearing were probably caused by not having any oil. Don't try to crank the car without oil in it, that's just not smart.

Do you see oil accumulating when the car's parked? Do you check your oil ever? 5 quarts is quite a bit of oil to loose. Did you try refilling the car with oil and then looking for leaks? If it's your main seal the oil would start coming back out as soon as you start the car. Is your drain plug secure? Look under the engine, you'd see quite a bit of oil underneath the car.

Secondly, have you been burning oil? If you weren't keeping an eye on the levels you could have burnt it off. Do you change your own oil? If you took it somewhere they could have not put enough in in the first place.

Why were you speeding?

Also, you might need to trim the dipstick.

What exactly does speeding mean? Like 20 in a school zone speeding, in a hurry speeding?

I think you should have a mechanic look at it. If you think its blown your probably right.

This sounds fishy to me. How in the world would there be sparks coming out the exhaust. That's a lot of piping for sparks to travel. Don't seem possible. Then this was double posted, makes me wonder about a a spam post.....

If this were to be true, someone would have had to be behind the car to see said sparks. If he threw a rod, I'd bet those sparks would be from that punching through the pan and hitting the ground. Which would also explain the oil disappearing (I've seen it happen before so I kinda know what it looks like, thank God not my motor). We don't even know what motor it is though. If a 3800, throwing a rod is rather rare. Small Blocks are more common but I don't know about the 60* V6s. I do know the 4.3 V6s have done it as well (if it were a 4th gen). I've seen a 4.3 throw a rod.

I shattered a rod in turbo monte's old engine.
