Default thermostat probmlem.

Hi guy just want to see if anyone can help me on this problem. I have a 2003 monte carlo with a 3.4 and every time I put a new thermostat in it works for about 30 minutes and when I stop and turn the car off it sticks in the closed position any help would be great.

its normal to do that it means that your cooling system is working. before that is the temp gage is getting to the center of the gage and it will go higher? or is it staying lower?

the thermostat is supposed to open and close periodically while the car is being driven. thermostats are usually closed so the car can heat up quickly. and will open once the temp is where its supposed to be. if indeed it remains close your car would overheat while being driven. is this the case? sometimes when my 02 monte carlo is idle (at a red light/stop sign) my temp guage may move up a little bit and once i start back driving again then the temp guage will lower. that is normal. hope my post helped
