I have a 1988 4.3 monte that needs a motor , my friends son crashed his 1986 TA and it has strong 305 tpi with a tranny that I want to use , what do I have to do to make the swap work in my monte........?

 

driveshaft and crossmember depending on your current trans. the tranny on the ta should be the 700r4. the motor should be a straight swap, as long as you have the computer and everything else from the donor car.

 

Do I have to change distributor or anything else, my monte has a throttle body and the ta has a carb, i was told its doable doing a throttle to carb , rather then a carb to throttle.....
I need my wheels back , and my monte is tired and need to pull this motor out and get rolling again........ whats the best way for me to go here.......? was getting the pontiac motor a mistake ? also using the tranny outta it too, do I need to change the yoke for the tranny and rear?

 

if its a 305 tpi motor then its a fuel injected chevy(tpi=tuned port injection). your v6 distributor wont work, and i wouldnt bother with the throttle body. that 305 should be injected already so youll want to run the tpi and the factory computer. about the yokes i honestly couldnt give you a 100% sure answer. im not super well versed in the camaros and t/as at least not 3rd gens. i thought that they ran 9 bolt( or something like that) rears. so i would assume that you would at least need to swap pinion yokes and run the driveshaft from the donor car along with the 700r4. that is if the drive shaft is even long enough.
