Default Supercharging a 2001

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS with the 3.8L V6 with an intake and exhaust (without headers). I wanna get a supercharger, but I'm only 17 and so I don't have a whole lot of money for the big name supers, but I was possibly thinking of getting an OEM Supercharger off a 2004 Monte Carlo SS. I know I will need the intake, new fuel pump, new fuel injectors, new serpantine belt, new ECU, new engine tuning. I was curious if anyone new anything else I would need, and some feedback from anyone who has done this before (consequences of doing it). Once its in I plan on swapping the stock 4 inch pulley to a 3 inch and adding a performance chip. I was just curious what all I would need and pros and cons and disadvantages from those who have done it. Also, what are some good chips to buy and is PCD chips legit? thanks!!

Im also 17 so I know exactly what you mean, and Im doing this swap too haha. Minimum wage ftl haha. But you need the actual blower (m90) lower intake manifold, heads, fuel rails, new exhaust, and a new pcm programming. Along with a belt and pulley, but you will need to do a few more parts before dropping near the 3 inch pulley. Also once you do pcm tuning you wont even need a chip.
But everything from the block up pretty much needs to be replaced, unless you went the zzp route and just got a custom lower intake and left your stock heads.

Some infos.
the l36 ( your engine) has higher compression than the l67 (supercharged engine) so you will make more hp than a 04 SS.

zzperformance.com and if this guy you talked to has a special way of bolting it onto the same lower intake manifold, well good luck lol

You need to do alot of research- check out the following links:

www.clubgp.com
www.regalgs.org

Read all about "Top swapping" and "SS M90 kit". When you have specific questions let us know and we'll be happy to help.

Honestly research it, and then realize it probably isn't going to happen while you are still 17 unless you are REALLY good with engines and can perform a full headgasket change on your own in a day.

Good, because there aren't currently any big name supers available as a bolt on.

but I was possibly thinking of getting an OEM Supercharger off a 2004 Monte Carlo SS.
As the others have said, search for top swap and SS M90- and read read read; all of the information is already out there and its not a terribly difficult swap if you can handle changing head gaskets.

Once its in I plan on swapping the stock 4 inch pulley to a 3 inch and adding a performance chip.
lol- then you're going to end up blowing chunks of pistons out of your exhaust. Stock pulley is 3.8"- and on an otherwise stock top swap, you're going to have knock with that. Going to a 3.0" on 9.4:1 compression is gonna take big heads/cam or maybe a mild cam and an IC- along with all the other supporting mods.

LOL- I thought about mentioning this, but figured he'd pick up on it after doing some research. 3.0 pulley on my L36 bottom end...LOL...now that's some WISHFUL thinking.
