Supercharging a 2001
I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS with the 3.8L V6 with an intake and exhaust (without headers). I wanna get a supercharger, but I'm only 17 and so I don't have a whole lot of money for the big name supers, but I was possibly thinking of getting an OEM Supercharger off a 2004 Monte Carlo SS. I know I will need the intake, new fuel pump, new fuel injectors, new serpantine belt, new ECU, new engine tuning. I was curious if anyone new anything else I would need, and some feedback from anyone who has done this before (consequences of doing it). Once its in I plan on swapping the stock 4 inch pulley to a 3 inch and adding a performance chip. I was just curious what all I would need and pros and cons and disadvantages from those who have done it. Also, what are some good chips to buy and is PCD chips legit? thanks!!
Im also 17 so I know exactly what you mean, and Im doing this swap too haha. Minimum wage ftl haha. But you need the actual blower (m90) lower intake manifold, heads, fuel rails, new exhaust, and a new pcm programming. Along with a belt and pulley, but you will need to do a few more parts before dropping near the 3 inch pulley. Also once you do pcm tuning you wont even need a chip.
But everything from the block up pretty much needs to be replaced, unless you went the zzp route and just got a custom lower intake and left your stock heads.
Some infos.
the l36 ( your engine) has higher compression than the l67 (supercharged engine) so you will make more hp than a 04 SS.

Honestly research it, and then realize it probably isn't going to happen while you are still 17 unless you are REALLY good with engines and can perform a full headgasket change on your own in a day.

lol- then you're going to end up blowing chunks of pistons out of your exhaust. Stock pulley is 3.8"- and on an otherwise stock top swap, you're going to have knock with that. Going to a 3.0" on 9.4:1 compression is gonna take big heads/cam or maybe a mild cam and an IC- along with all the other supporting mods.
