Question Supercharger Whine

Out of curiosity, those who have a supercharge equipped Monte Carlo, does it produce that sweet, heavenly whine? I don't remember ever hearing the sound in my cousin's 2005 SS supercharged, which saddens me.

The question arises because I just watched a video of the 2011 Mustang GT500. The supercharger whine is just as loud as the exhaust and it sounds amazing.

If the Monte SS doesn't produce this sound, what can you guys do to actually get it to sound as good as the GT500, if anything?

You need to put an air intake on the car in order to "unlock" the whine

Is that really it though? If so that's great. The whine of the GT500 is so overwhelming. I love it.

Yeah, once you put on an intake you will start to hear the whine more... then as you mod further and drop pulley sizes you will hear more and more whine.

Youtube a few GTPs with like... a 2.8 / 3.0 pulley and you should hear a very nice whine (stock being a 3.8 pulley)

Ah, I see. Perhaps a TB spacer would help? IDK.

Typical L67 build = more whine.

Air intake, downpipe/u-bend delete + powerlog (headers optimal). 1.9 modded rockers, custom tune, dropped pulley size.

haha I'm not boosting my L36, but that wish-list is basically what is on my car already.

I have the CAI, PLOG, Downpipe, ER Rockers, custom tune, and us non-supercharged guys get the HV3.

No, I think you missed what he was trying to say- the stock airbox is designed to specifically cancel out the sound of the supercharger- so anything you do that leaves the stock airbox in place in its entirety is going to leave you with no supercharger whine.

Do anything to remove the stock airbox: CAI, FWI, HAI, heck take the whole intake off and run open throttle body (not something I'd reccomend though)- and you'll get the SC whine.
