Unhappy starter and engine light problem

hi,
i have a 2004 chevy monte carlo and the starter went out and i disconnected the battery and replaced the starter and now that is all put in and everything is put back together. when i try to start the car the only thing that happens is that check engine light comes on. also when moving the car to work on the starter the radiator clipped something and starting leaking, im not sure if it has anything to do with it and im not sure whats wrong with the car?

Did you hook both terminals up correctly? The larger power wire and the smaller wire to the smaller terminal?

Just gotta make sure..

So its a no crank, no start concern? When you turn the key to the On position (not trying to start) does the theft light turn on then back off?

have an extra key to try just in case ?

well I ended up having to buy the vehicle diagnostics and plug it into the computer and having to do that apparently the computer lock the security system and none of the electronics would work.

That's what I figured it was going to be. Usually if the security/theft system is active it won't do anything. I didn't know if it might have lost the key code in the module and didn't recognize the key or something.

So you cleared the theft DTC out and it starts now?

Turn the key to the ON position and leave it there for 11 minutes.
Turn the key to the OFF position and leave it there for 10 seconds.
Repeat above 3 times.
The vehicle should now start.
