ngk plugs are half the price...here's the example of what i sell them for up here for a 2005 monte carlo 3.8l

ngk 3403 5.42
acdelco 41-101 $10.09 (these are the ones that say ngk on them..lol)

we sell about 100-200 ngk plugs of these 3403's where we sell maybe 6-12 of the acdelco plugs a month

As a Tech
I believe this
If the car is GM use A/C DELCO
If the car is Ford use Motorcarft or Autolite
If the car is Mopar use Champion

Imports I will not go there.......

I believe putting in what the Manf. calls for........
Does not mean you need to get them for the dealership

Just use the proper brand

i will have to take that pic of the acdelco plug that has the ngk logo in the casting...we've changed over a few customers that swear by that rule...but they've changed now and run ngk in everything...

i agree with you...thats the way it was...but ngk is so big now they'll soon be making all the plugs out there...

ALOT of modders use the Autolite's for the 3800's. Just throw the question up on Mymonte.com or Clubgp.com. They also agree not to put Botch in the GMs. I beleive those are good in Fords.

I figured it out,I'm thinking of different NGK plugs... I'm thinking of the TR55's which sell for 12-15 bucks US. The AC Delcos I found at Advance Autoparts were about 7-8 bucks - Dealer wanted 11 each for them.

some parts store's just use different #'s

those TR55's are actually their basic copper plug

tr55=1048 which is $2.60
TR55GP = 3403 which is 5.42
TR55IX(iridium) =7164 which is 9.57

these are all cdn prices and the 4 didget # is the stock # that a lot of parts stores use

those are all the plugs for our car (stock ones anyway) to go colder you add10 to it

so tr65....

So if we add the 180 drilled Stat in to the car do we need to go colder? hotter? or stay the same?

the only reason i'm going to the colder ones is because i'm putting the smaller pulley on...i dont know if there's actually any other reason to put colder plugs in

The colder plugs diapate the heat the plug makes more quickly. You want to keep warmer plugs in to help with fuel economy, but colder to keep the KR down.

I don't have enough knowledge though as to why people who drop to a 3.4 pulley just don't drop 2 or 3 ranges colder instead of only just one. It isn't until you hit 3-3.25" pulley until you hit the 2nd range colder plugs, below a 3" pulley you use 3 levels colder.
