Default shifter replacement

Has anyone replaced their stock floor shifter with any aftermarket high performance unit such as a B&M or Hurst unit. I know B&M's shifters are not compatible with our 4T65E-HDs but I was wondering about any others. Our shifters do not stop in drive while upshifting; they can slip into neutral if pushed too hard accidentally and that is by no means good for the motor at higher RPM's. Or can anyone advise me on the programming necessary to reconfigure our shifters so the button would have to be used to shift from Drive to Neutral. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

my friend's neighbor has a 3rdgen... he has a B&M shifter and manual valve bodies but i don't know anyone with a 5th or 6th gen that has one... i mean it shouldn't really matter that much as long is the linkage is on correctly...

Thank you for responding. I called B&M and their shifters are not compatible with my transmission. My tranny shifts electronically in conjunction with the cable. A computer cable combination as they explained to me. Not only that but the travel of their shifter from one gear to the next is different than the travel from one gear to the next on the trans. They do not match up. Thanks for trying.

Honestly, there is no reason to be shifting it at all anyways- you just leave it in drive and floor it when you want to race.

It still shifts each gear at the same mph/rpm points anyways, the only thing you can really do by 'manually' shifting it is hold it in a gear. However, it will still make the 1-2 shift regardless at redline, but you can hold it so it can't shift past 2 or 3, but if you're just trying to race, there is no reason to.

The only reason I could see to put it in a different gear is if you're autocrossing or something and won't ever need the 2-3 shift to occur, then you could put it in 2nd- but you're still not 'shifting'.
