Well, I can't give any personal experiences, but I hear a lot of horror stories from cars that get a fluid flush. ESPECIALLY on older cars with higher mileage. Yours is kind of middle of the road on age and mileage now, so it might not affect yours, but I'm not sure.

I've just heard the flush is hard on the tranny, and sometimes cars emerge with serious problems and sometimes actually become undriveable after a flush, even if it was done professionally. I would only recommend flush on a new car with less than 30,000 miles.

 

Generally people don't recommend them on higher miles, like 150k or so because the metal shavings in the fluid make it thicker or something... It's just a bunch of theories and biases that generally don't mean much.

If you take car of your transmission and do regular flushes and filter changes it will more than likely treat you well

 

You only need to remove the transmission pan to install the shift kit. Pretty easy cheesy.... The cooler might take longer to put in and it's not even that bad. You can get almost any fluid cooler to use off of eBay. I prefer Earl's Coolers myself. I actually have 2 coolers mounted directly behind my High Sports grille and the tranny fluid stays very chill.

I would recommend a shift kit. I have the Transgo one in my 2007 SS and it changed how it would downshift extremely well. The stock shifts seemed sloppy and now it is much better after install

 

Thanks for all the help guys. I do have a couple more questions, what trans is in the 06'? I have done a little research and it looks like it is the 4T65-E, would that be correct? and also have you guys disabled DOD if you have it? I have heard that isn't all that great for the car as well.

 

You have the 4t65e-HD trans like the supercharged guys.

Get rid of DOD, it gets rid of those beloved oil issues and your car won't sound like a helicopter at cruising speeds.
