you can to use both in a 6th gen. I have both.
I have the thrasher shift kit and also the hypertec programmer.

the thing is you dont want to add more line presure to the tranny lines in the programmer with a shift kit on the car. or it will be to much presure for the tranny and the lines.

But you can use both

If you havent gotten the PCM yet then you can call them and find out what they recomend. they might beabel to program it for a shift kit and still allow it to work good for you.
if you already have the PCM, then you might for get the shift kit so or call them and ask if it is compatabel with a shift kit.

Like i said i have the thrasher kit in mine and also the hypertec programmer it asks you if you have a shift kit in the car and if you do it will not allow you to program all the same things as if you dont have it

Sorry for being a tranny dummy, but is the installation of a shift kit the equivalent to the HD modsrecommended for transmissions for the L36 S/C upgrade?

I too would like to know if this is good enough to help your tranny last longer under more pressure than just leaving it stock, or do u need to upgrade the entire thing for good measure?

or is it easier just to upgrade the whole thing, and splurge on the cost?

Since you have an Intimidator model, you already have the HD tranny. In your case you should either upgrade the shift kit or programmer. Not both as it will cause some bad issues.

If you ordered a PCM already, I would hold off on the kit or maybe set it to low. If you get a programmer, then you can fine tune it.

Don't worry about it, everyone needs to learn.

The HD kit is different at it contains a whole new axle, sun gears, and differential. All are hardend parts.
