Default Service or No Service?

So I got my '04 LS a few years back with 52K miles on it, and the tranny fluid completely black... and Ive heard from a few different people not to change it if it's black because the gears have already ground down, and the shavings actually help keep the transmission in line. Now I just hit 100K miles and did everything except the transmission...

Should I do a full service or just keep the fluid in check? This is my every day driver.

BLACK... it was already seriously dark when I got it 2 years ago, and so far Ive just been keeping it up.... it's got dex 3, if that makes any difference. And remember its an LS, an LS that I occasionally drive like an SS

BLACK!!! I've honestly NEVER seen black tranny fluid. I've heard the no changing thing before too..but IDK!

My opinion DO NOT take it in for a "flush" By a good brand Dexron 3 (normally i'd say get Dexron 6, but in this case stick with 3). And do a pan drop and filter change. This will change out 7.5 quarts of the 13 total quarts of fluid. I think this should be safe because your still leaving some old fluid in (almost half)...Then 50K later, do another pan drop/ filter change...

Nothing good can come from BLACK tranny fluid. That sounds bad already!

Time for a new tranny. Mine got to the point where it would heat up and not shift gears, then it just wouldn't go into drive period. Wasnt the shift linkage, wasnt the torque converter, it was the whole damn thing. I wound up getting it rebuilt because a new one would cost SO much money!
