question
I apologize for the "noob"-type question but we've all gotta start learning somewhere. I've read on these forums about "top-swaps" and people putting new motors in their montes.... Could someone put into layman's terms what a top swap is, as well as if i were to want to put a new motor in my 99 monte, how i would go about doing so(not step by step process on how to install, but where one would find a motor, price, etc..) again, sorry for such a "noob" question, but i would like to learn.

top swap refers to replacing the top end of the motor. from the l32 na to the l67 supercarged motor.ie the cylinder heads, blower manifold, the top of the motor. not the engine block the bottom. and theres tons of places to find parts. try a search or look in the engine section.

I knew what the rest you said was correct, just wanted to correct the numbering so he isn't searching to top-swap FROM a supercharged engine.
But there are tons of threads and sites that talk about top-swaps.

You would find either a complete engine easiest at one of these places:
www.clubgp.com/forum in the classifieds
www.3800pro.com in the classifieds
www.ebay.com
www.moradpartscompany.com
If you're looking for top swap parts, add to that list
www.wbodystore.com (if you need it asap, and can't wait to get the parts yourself)
Top swaps generally run $500-1000 (a little more if you just buy a complete kit from a major vendor)
Complete L67/4t65HD swaps generally run about $1000-2000 (depending where you buy the engine/trans and what condition they're in).
