Smile Progress

Hey everyone! I mentioned in my first post about replacing my intake manifold gaskets, well, I don't have the parts but I'm going to be prepared to do everything at once when I do, it was to dangerous to drive so me and the gf have taken this as a learning experience, and following step by step instructions, courtesy of trewyn15 , we've gotten down to the UIM. Heres a picture, so far everythings gone pretty smooth and I've watched my little 5'1'' gf stradle my engine more times than I can count but her tiny hands are HELPFUL! HAHA, check it out

Glad it's moving along and yes sometimes small hands are very helpful.

Got a little further in my "JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF A MONTE!", got some pics, they are DISGUSTING! Mechanics under 18, may want to look away... Now. Got the manifolds off, rocker arms off... take a peek, its.... frightning, I'm so glad I stopped driving it when I did.

Looks like GOOD progress. If you have extra time and feel adventurous, could rip the heads off. I had to do head gaskets on my '94 Grand Am (much of what I pulled apart looked like your pics). I cleaned/degreased EVERYTHING! So clean you could eat off the parts when I re-assembled it.

Make sure you are using the aluminum replacement LIM gaskets. Good luck! Nice work so far!

Thanks, doing this project has boosted both mine and the gf's confidence in messing w/ an engine. Its definently a learning experience! Anything special I should clean everything with? Heard brake cleaner more than once.

How many miles were on your car? I'm just trying to get an idea of what kind of mess I'll be dealing with this summer haha
