One day i pulled out of my st and my view was blocked. As I pulled out I saw a red suv coming at me. It was to late to stop, I was already in the middle of the hwy. So as I'm turn into a lane i stepped down on the gas pretty stiffly, to save my car from getting smashed. I noticed a whinning sound after that. it sonuded lake my power steering. evey time i'd hit the gas it got louder. Since I was on break from work I just turned it off and went to work. After work I started it and listen to it, and it wasn't makin the noise. It only does it when I get on it pushing the car past 3g's from a stop turning onto a hwy ect. Anyone else have/had this problem??

Yes it was, but since then, Ive been easy pullin out in traffic. I've olny had the car for about 6 months, so i'm easy with it.

 

I got on it tonight, not WOT but it still did the same thing. So I'm just gonna be careful till i start my job at the local chevy dealership, so i can get a major discount on labor and parts for whatever the problem is.

 

If it still did it with the A/C off, check your belt and tensioner.


If I am reading it right you have a 2001 Monte? If so, I would replace both if you have not already.

man, my 01 has been doing the exact same thing! gassing it and turning sharply it seems it makes whining. i know that's not right the car should be able to take that. Belt and tensioner you say? I will check that out.
