Default Performance Chip? Worth it?

Id like to hear what some of you think about it. Why do the cars not come fully powered? i just heard a little bit about them today when i was at a car show room and i was wondering.. maybe i should get one? are they hard to install?

Performance chips are a load of garbage.

The stock tune that you get is for maximum MPG and smooth rides.

If you want the right performance you need a proper tune of your PCM.

^Chibi nailed it. Our cars don't take "chips". You have to have the PCM retuned. The factory could have made the 3800 pretty powerful, however it would have been loud and noisy, had a rough idle, and a touchy accellerator. Pretty much everything that us gearheads like about cars they had to get rid of. But I suppose that's because we make up only about 1-5% of new car buyers.

As said above. Skip the chip...I actually attempted to try one, and it fried my PCM and I had to get a whole new one.

Get a real tune or a canned tune PCM, you WILL notice a difference then.

Since you are supercharged you will need to get a tune with all your mods. You have to monitor Knock Retard also to make sure you aren't going to damage your engine.
