Default ok my monte over heated badly

what i mean it has all the radiator fluid before the over heating issue. when i was driving back from the dealer i didnt get 15 miles away when it over heated and shut off. before i left the dealer i checked every thing so if there was some thing out of place i would say some thing. it had all the radiator fluid and the corect amount in the resivuior as well. when i got 15 miles down the road. my monte over heated and shut off right now it is back at my house waiting so i can get the hundred dallar deductible for the warrenty so the dealer can fix it. my question is what could cause the over heating it has a new thermastat it is only three weeks old new radiator hoses and heater hoses as well. could the radiator get gummed up with some thing or could there be some thing i am not looking over. or going 15 miles and over heating just toasted the engine

Did the fans stay running after it shut off, its probably a thermostat.

it is the 3.5 engine i dont think it has a problem with the lim but it is back at the dealer and it has the warrenty so they should fix it. but enzo the fans stayed on when the engine was off.

i am not sure both engins are based off of the same block so keep an eye on the coolent level it should be a sign because small amount of water should be disapering with in a months time then it hit me badly with the over heating problem. but was glad it didnt hurt the heads or rest of the gaskets. to do any damage to the heads because i shut it off and let it cool down and towed it do to how the temp gage and lose of coolent happend and being hoter than a peace of cole.
