Default Oil Pressure

I have a 2000 Monte SS with a 3.8 For the last couple months I've noticed when I started the car the oil pressure gage would not move. I would turn the car off, restart it and the oil pressure gage would move and be fine. It has now stopped moving at all and the oil pressure light and buzzer is on. The car has about 146K on it but runs great. I can't hear any knocking at all while the engine is running and the light is saying no oil pressure. Any idea's out there on what my problem might be??? Thanks in advance for any reply's..

This may be a silly question but have you checked the oil?

Checked the oil several times actually just to make sure and that's definitely not the problem.

I just wanted to know how the oil level was. 6th gen Montes usually have some electrical gremlins. If you search for something like gauges not working, you should be able to find something.

If both the light is on and the gauge is dead, I bet your sender died. For the 3800- the sender comes off the adapter that the oil filter screws onto. Its real easy to switch out- just unplug and unscrew.

I'm sure the car has oil pressure though- you wouldn't be driving it around that long with 0 oil pressure.
