Oil Change Light
I am at 3,000 miles since my last oil change, and the change oil light is not on yet. I was just curious as to whether the light comes on based on miles, or the life left in the oil? I was wondering if there was some sort of sensor that monitored the oil life.

That formula is neat and I'm sure has a LOT of research behind it, I just have trouble going away from my 3000-5000 mile change interval. It works. Just my opinion.
But as Chibi said, it does not go based on miles, it's very advanced to determine when the oil has "degraded".

Wow, that's cool. I didn't know that. I was worried that something was wrong, and I'd change the oil and then the light would come on. With as busy as our house is and my work schedule, I would never be able to keep track.
Mines religious I guess...
That friggn light comes on @ every 3000 miles hehehehehe..
Of course Naturally, I change it everytime! Since it was brand new its always been right on time @ 3000....and of course I have every single receipt of every oil change since it was new also....
THATS A LOT OF PAPER WORK HEHEHHEEHHEHEHEHEE!!!!

In 99 they were mileage counters. It wasn't until later models came out that GM changed to a formula based light.
Thanks MAMONTE for the heads up!
key in on position...3 pedal pumps....start the motor..
Oil life is reset!
Works everytime!
