I agree with space, i think he has some valid points.

That said... i run Mobil1 and change it every 3- to 3500. Sure i could go longer, but its cheap insurance for engine wear.

Yeah I change mine also as stated earlier in the post.Just kinda curious on roughly how many miles before the light comes on.The way it sounds it could be 10000 miles before it comes on.Way to many miles imo before a oil change no mater whatoil you use.

 

Mobil 1 Extended Performance, says like 15k or so before a change. Dad's used it in all our vehicles since we bought each one, and our '93 Suburban with the 350 in it has 190k and our '98 Seirra with 170k have both been changed around 12-15k. The '98 doesn't run very well anymore after my sister ran it down to two quarts of oil and then still drove it low for another 1k miles or so. The Suburban runs okay, slow and the tranny's having problems but the engine is just fine. Pretty sure Dad's Camaro (also has the 350, see a trend?) has also used the same oil, but only has like 70k on odometer and I don't know what work has been done on it.

I run the same, but usually change it around 10k, I just can't bring myself to go the full 15k. My oil life runs out at about 9-9.5k and tells me I need to change it. Yet to have any problems with it, yet to use up enough oil to get low on the stick and the stuff that comes out still feels smooth. Changed the oil the first time after getting the car at about 18k (bought with 16 or 17k on it). Just passed the 55,555 miles mark today.
