Default No Power at 3000RPM

I recently had my 01 SS give me some problems with shifting. It wouldn't leave 1st. If you hit the gas it'd just bog and start stuttering. I didn't have time to screw with it so I brought to the garage. The told me it wasn't running right and shooting misfire codes. They pulled a plug and said they looked bad. I had Borg Warner Wires and NGK plugs on the shelf but hadn't replaced them. I left them do it and they did fuel system clean. They said it was running better and and shifting fine but when trying to get up to speed the fuel pressure would drop off. They wanted 1100 to change it. I decided I would do it for much less. I bought a Delphi pump and new filter. I replaced both and drove it. It idles fine and runs up to speed fine but if you punch it, it pops up to about 3000 or 3500 and then just bogs down like it doesn't have any power. If I hold my foot on the gas it starts making an intermittent ticking. If I put it in neutral and rev it, it runs up to 3500 or 4000 and then does the same thing. It acts like it misses and will tick again if I stay on it. The only thing I didn't do was replace the main harness on the pump, I didn't have time. Any ideas? I'm wondering about a coil pack. No engine light as of yet. Thanks in advance

i would look into the cat, if you run it for a bit and look under the car and the cat is glowing, thats the sign of a bad cat

Did some more searching in the threads here and it sounds like the CAT suggestion is probably the best place to start. Any other thoughts? I'll to free up the cat tomorrow and see if I get any improvement. Can I remove the cat and run it or is that going give me other grief? I just want to see if that'll get it running before I go and buy one. I'm looking to sell the car soon and don't want to dump anymore than the 700+ I've already done. I was hoping to get thru the winter. I need something with 4WD and 4 doors would be nice too. Thanks again

if you run without the cat it will be louder and throw a code for the rear 02. oem replacements are kind of expensive. you could get an aftermarket cat and delete the code
