New to the monte carlo
Ok I am new to the monte carlo and I am interested in performing some performance mods. I have a 2000 3400 carlo and I am coming from a tt 428 trans am. I would like to know where would be a good start for modding. I've ben told mounting 3.8 heads would be a good start along with intake, programming, and some kind of forced induction like I did with my trans am. any insight would be appreciated. I thank everyone and anyone in advance.

Welcome! Monte Carlo's have been a passion of mine for over 7 years now. There are many things that you can do to your Monte, and I recommend that you look at the 60degreev6.com. This is because the 3400 v6 in your Monte is a (you guessed it) 60* v6 This leads me to the next point and that is that you can't install 3800 heads on your 3400. The heads are COMPLETELY different. The 3800 is also a 90* v6.
My advice is that you take your time, look around at what others have done to their 3400's, or do an engine swap and install a 3800 v6 and turbocharge that. As always, have fun!

Well no budget in mind yet. I am starting with getting ideas because I first wasn't sure if the 3400 is strong enough to build or if the 3800 is really the only way to go. I would like to stay mild probably 11~13 second in the 1/4. Feels like a 16 second or slower vehicle right now and I have never been in something this slow in my life lol. so the question is - is the 3400 capable or is the 3800 the best way to go. Oh yeah this cat will be the daily driver.

11-13 seconds is a BIG difference. You could put the 3400 in the 13's pretty easy with a turbo. There are some people who build them up. Check out 60degreev6.com like I said and after looking there for awhile, see if that's the way you want to go.
It's going to be MUCH easier (and cheaper) getting a 3800 into the 11-13 second range. They have a much larger aftermarket and the bottom ends are pretty reliable (my engine has over 160k miles on it). 3800's mechanically can last well over 200k miles if not more.
And btw, you are correct. A 3400 6th gen Monte should be mid to high 16's stock.
