need help figuring out wich 3800 I have
Most likely yes. Unless they just replaced the oil pan with a new version which I highly doubt because it would require new motor mount brackets. If you could take a pic of the top of your engine I'd be able to tell you. Oh and without the cover.

Just an FYI, all 2004+ (except possibly some built very early) Impalas and Montes got the Series III bottom end and heads (including the powered rods which was the major difference). The Series II top end (plastic UIM for NA, Gen3 M90 for SC) was mated with the Series III bottom end/heads and the Series II oil pan
No Impala or Monte every received the Series III top end from the factory
So even with a Series II oil pan and Series II top end, you won't be able to tell if you have the Series III bottom end without opening the motor up (or possible checking the serial number on the block)

What is calling the dealer going to accomplish? They won't have a clue
If it has the plastic UIM, what good is a picture going to do without opening the engine up?
And even more importantly, what's the difference? There is no horsepower increase from the Series 2 to Series 3 NA motor and the only real internal difference is the rods, which don't break in the NA motor anyway...

I've heard the Bonneville guys mention what BBE mentioned about the series III bottom end. To be honest, neat to know, but unless you NEED to know for a performance modding reason, I certainly would not loose sleep over it.
I'll be checking it this friday so until then my fingers are crossed hoping its series 3
