Default MPD1 Hood

Ok I couldn't find the old post I made on this. But for those of you who have this do you see a difference in performance or keeping the engine cool. Im debating if its worth the money. I am trying to do more track runs as I just did my first one on Friday and would like to do more. But the price of the hood plus shipping and paint we are looking at about a grand do you think it makes that much of a difference to justify the money or mainly look cool but is functional. Whats your thoughts.

OK MY MPD-1 HOOD IS FUNCTIONAL and sealed behind the headlight to help build the most out of the hood and packing the air box with pressure. What I have noticed was that at higher speeds (HWY) I get better gas milage 1 to 2 MPG and a very and I mean very small boost of power amount of power on my Naturally Aspirated v-6 . I did mine because I feel its how a true SS should look . I would do this again 100% but if you are looking for more power or better gas milage it s minimal at best. I would bet the best way cost wise would be pull the drivers side headlight and seal that intake area behind it .It would give you the biggest performance gain for the $ with your Super charged Monte once you are moving.
I have tons more pics let me know if there is something you want to see

It is true RamAir so it will add a little power but only at higher speeds, so for track days you would already be half way down the track before it would do much.
As for heat, I dont know about the 6th Gen hoods but the 7th gen one have decent size heat extractors in the back to help cooling

Can see the holes in the back for heat to come out

good point on the heat man , when I put the new motor in and the hood I ceramic coated everything I could for heat reduction so I can't tell you what the 6 Gen hood would do for you.

IMO I would only get it for the looks. Performance gain will be negligible (especially for what you could get for $1k). Engine bay temperatures may be a touch cooler, but if cooling is your main focus, $1k would get you a lot more cooling mods that would be a lot more beneficial.

This is what I was thinking even though it is functional the benefits are very minimal and still is mainly for looks.
