i've just joined the forum this morning, i must say some of you have some wicked mc's! anyways, i just purchased a 03 SS/LE monte and was wondering what kind of modifications would increase my torque and hp... aside from the obvious (knn fipk, throttle body spacer, exhaust and mufflers) so if anyone has some suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated!

welcome to the forum, suggest high flow cat, ubend and resonator delete, flowmaster 40 series, power programmer, port and polish and gasket match everything. but the rest are obvious as you stated.

well in the exhaust there's a few minor things you can do for big gains...but other than that and the stuff you said other than...i'm not sure what would give you the biggest bang for the buck

personally the little things i did were huge

1. ubend delete
2. resonator delete
3. high flow cat
4. cold air intake

and those were very nice gains in hp

You can do just about every internal mod to your L36, like cam, heads, headers, and exhaust, but with the money you'd spend on that, you could drop a L67 in there with rockers and a 3.4, and it would be faster.

Top swap if you want to keep your higher compression block, but I'm a fan of proper compression, between 8 and 8.5 is a sweet spot for boost, which is why I stuck with the L67 for my rebuild this past spring.

It all depends on what your performance goals are, and your budget... always set those two, and get what you can for the dollar.

Good luck with your modding journey!

WELL,
other then what was already said i guess the only thing i can say is a out bord motor if you live in Texas,

I will also let you know monte carlos do float rather well but they will get some water in them also.
And the boat motor will get you out of lakes that suddenly appear out of nowhere on I 410

but then again this is just a thought, As i have a SS monte carlo that is a true S.S. Monte carlo to the Marine terms to now.
so i guess i might be a bit bitter for them not offering this option

If your going to do all the cam work and that, just buy a used L67 and matching transmission. Much more powerfull, many more upgrades.

If you are on a budget, do what Wiz said earlier.
