LS4 Power Steering Delete/Electric Pump
I have a 2007 Monte Carlo SS with the LS4 engine. Has anyone in here deleted their power steering pump or replaced it with an electric one? Was planning on doing a electric pump swap as I need to flip my intake manifold for my cold side on my turbo setup (irrelevant to the question) was curious what the belt lengths would be or how you would route it? I might also go with a Holley high ram and avoid all of those issues but they are just expensive and my power steering (even after replacing) whines like a mf.
I have seen PS deletes done before in the Fiero world. Unfortunately you can't just run the belt from idler to idler when keeping the alternator in the original spot as it would interfere with the cast in coolant tubes.
So people usually put a smaller delete pulley up top in place of the pump. This does necessitate grinding the reinforcement brackets down though up by that front idler. I have heard of people repurposing existing AC delete brackets for this with a smaller idler (rather than building a mount from scratch like this guy).
Pretty good video here:
Not entirely sure if that makes enough space for a flipped manifold to come through though. They're usually doing it for weight savings.
There are at least 2 guys that have moved the alternator to a low front position - gets rid of all of the belts up there, but not sure if there's enough space for an alt low front on a W body.
