I seem to be using about a quart of oil every couple of months. I have check for leaks and have found nothing. I don't smell anything either. I was talking to a Mechanic that I know, and he seems to think that my valves need to be adjusted. and the seals may need to be replaced. Is this a common problem with a 2007 Monte SS V8? I drive about 500 miles a week, on the interstate.

What type of oil are you using ? What weight ?
Yes, wore valve seals can increase oil consumption.

This is a common problem with the LS4 engines.
It's the DOD kicking it does cause slight burning of oil.
The best way to fix it is to tune out the DOD.

 

I don't have a SS but I've hear/ been told that because of the DOD the motor will consume a small amount of oil.

Soo wait a minute... The DOD can be disabled or tuned out, if so my next car is going to be a newer SS

 

The car has 86,000 miles on it, no modifications on the motor as of yet, but I have noticed on the last oil change at Goodyear, the oil they used was 5W 20, I will be putting 5W 30, When I start changing it myself

 

i agree with the above. its the dod. ditch that garbage and you should be ok.
